Help Spark the Curiosity of My Super Students
I am teaching third grade to 18 amazing students this school year! I would LOVE to get their hands on issues of Scholastic News. It's a nonfiction magazine full of current events, science, and social studies topics written with kids in mind. It will help build background knowledge and expand their academic vocabularies in a more engaging way than our curriculums tend to do.
Help inspire their young brains! I've done this for a few years, and I wish I could share the looks on their faces when they receive piles of books!
Classroom Library and Organization
My name is Amber, and this is my 6th year teaching. I taught special education for 5 years, but I am now teaching general education, in 1st grade. Coming from special education to the general education classroom, my classroom library doesn't have the selection of books I'd love to have to help my students have a love of reading.
If they can find books that interest them as they are learning to read, it will promote a lifelong love of reading. The funds I will get with this campaign will allow me to grow my classroom library so every student can find books to love. Thank you for any support!
Help Me Say Yes to Books for Teachers!
Please help me say YES to Hermosa Vista teachers as we are working hard to build and instill a literacy rich campus and love for reading among our students. Your donations last year helped teachers from kindergarten to sixth grade and made a world of difference!
I would LOVE to continue blessing the lives of HV teachers that in turn bless the lives of our HV students and families. "When I look back, I am so impressed again with the life-giving power of literature. If I were a young person today, trying to gain a sense of myself in the world, I would do that again by reading, just as I did when I was young." – Maya Angelou
Ms. Milton's '23-'24 Class
Hello! I am Ms. Milton and I am a 4th grade teacher. I love reading, and one of my biggest goals as a teacher is to foster a love for reading in my students. If you feel inclined to help, please feel free to donate to our class.
This money will be used to expand our classroom library, and provide the students with a surprise gift of a book for winter break. I appreciate all of you and look forward to finding out more about my students interests to help them find books that will encourage their reading adventure!
Mrs. Szymczak's Reading Classes
My name is Melanie Szymczak (Sim-check) and I teach reading to middle school students in our special needs program. I am looking for books that are high interest for middle schoolers, but have simpler text so the students are successful reading and understanding what they read.
I love reading and want our students to love it too! When reading is difficult, it isn't always enjoyable and I want to change that. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you for reading my post.
Mr. Anderson’s Classroom Library
I recently accepted my first teaching position for the 2023-2024 school year! I will be a 2nd grade teacher in the Albert Lea school district. As I transition into this awesome opportunity, I am looking to grow my classroom library to provide books to each of my young learners!
Your support not only means the world to me but will also shape the minds of those who will make the world brighter! Thank you so much in advance and I cannot wait to share more as I become an educator!
Become a Book Fairy for Students
Hello! My name is Mary Kay and I teach 2nd grade at New Albany Elementary School. I’m raising funds to give each of my 23 students a few books to take home this year. I hope that these books will inspire my students to read with their families. Children are taught how to read at school, but the real joy of reading is found at home.
When you become a Book Fairy by contributing to my campaign, you’ll help me raise $400 to send books home with students. With your support, I’ll be able to choose books that reflect the interests of every student in my class. Will you become a Book Fairy for my students? Thank you for your support!
Send Book Bags Home With Students
Hello! My name is Carrie and I am a first year Kindergarten Teacher at Kimberly Elementary School. In my pursuit of fostering a love for reading, I have witnessed the transformative power that books can have on a child's development. Unfortunately, not every child has access to a rich literary environment at home.
I launched this campaign to raise money to buy books that can be used to send home with students to read with their families. Books create opportunities of exploration of new worlds and expand their imaginations. With your support, I will be able to buy grade level appropriate books for our classroom that we can send home with students to read with their families.
Inspire a Love for Reading
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. Reading is something that brings joy to my students! When life can be difficult outside of school, being able to bring joy to their lives through literature, is so amazing.
My students have a hunger for literature! They love reading and listening to stories. Being able to provide each student with a new book every month throughout the school year would be just amazing! At the end of the school year, each student would have nine new books, just for them. This would not only enhance my students' love for literature, but will be so rewarding to their future in literacy.
Books in the Hands and Homes of All My Students
My school has over 90% of its students classified as living in poverty. I would like to get books for my students that they could choose from every month to take home to build their own library.
I have done this in the past by stockpiling and using the "free book" money from book orders to purchase a wide selection of books. This year I'm teaching a different grade and don't have enough books on-grade level for my students. Thank you, in advance, for considering a contribution to my campaign!
Kindergarten Home Library
During the Global Pandemic, I realized how important it is for my students to have books to keep in their own personal libraries at home. This creates a love of learning and reading for our youngest readers at home. Having a personal library at home, fosters the love of literacy in a safe environment for all students and families.
During the past few school years, I successfully completed two Scholastic Campaigns. Students received over 15 books for their Home Libraries thanks to all the generous donations! I know this will continue to inspire students' love of reading stories and learning. I would love any donations to try to do this again! Thank you for your generosity!
Library Builders
Hi there! Each year I supply my students with one book a month to build their own personal home libraries. Getting books in students' hands is exceptionally important to building their literacy. Every donation guarantees that students will have access to books outside of school.
The look on students' faces when they see our book box arrive is amazing! They truly love and appreciate every book they receive. Thank you in advance for your support!
Become a Bilingual Book Fairy!
Hello! My name is Maria and I teach 3rd grade-Spanish Immersion at Minnewashta Elementary. I’m raising funds to add to my class library and each of my 26 students can borrow at least two books monthly in English and Spanish. Fiction and non-fiction books in English and Spanish will help to increase opportunities to be exposed to different genres based on my student's interests.
My 3rd graders love to read! When you become a Bilingual Book Fairy by contributing to my campaign, you’ll help me raise $300 to add books to our bilingual class library. Any extra funds will go toward building our classroom library and will benefit kids for years to come. With your support, I’ll be able to choose books that reflect the interests of every student in my class. Thank you for your support! Sé un hada de los libros bilingües ¡Gracias por tu apoyo!
Diversify and Inspire a Love for Reading
My name is Myrissa Kilde and I am the middle school Humanities teacher at Schoolcraft Learning Community. Working at a small charter school, my students do not have regular access to a library full of books to meet their unique and individual interests.
To better serve the needs of my students and to promote a positive culture of readers, it is my goal to create a large and comprehensive classroom library where all students can feel seen not only in their interests but also in their own cultures, identities, and beliefs. Please consider donating to our campaign to fill our classroom with amazing literature!
A Library In Every Home
Hello everyone! My name is Sarah and I am a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at RHCS. I myself have always loved to read and I love the quality time I get to spend with the children in my care when I read them a book. My goal is to be able to bring that same opportunity into each and every home by providing children with the gift of books.
With your support of this campaign, we will be able to purchase books to gift to all of the children in our care at the holidays and throughout the year. Let's help to build the love of reading in our children and give all children the opportunity to have their own little home libraries! Thank you for your support!
Promoting Biliteracy
Hello! My name is Kristin and I'm a K-2 bilingual teacher at CICS Irving Park. I launched this campaign to provide my students with more rigorous and culturally relevant materials.
I've seen my students light up when the books we read feature characters they can relate to, and I want to foster that sense of belonging and importance in all of my students. Thank you for the generous support!
Books in Every Home
Hi everyone - my name's Lisa! A scary statistic is the number of times parents read to their children under the age of 12. It is only about once a week. Reading daily to children increases language and literacy skills. So, I'd like to increase that number by providing books in homes.
Parents are struggling to pay bills and groceries and don't have the money to buy books. I'd like to provide real books that children can hold in their hands, turn the pages, reread, discuss story elements, discuss author purpose, type of book, and many other topics. Thank you for your support!
Diverse and Engaging Books For the Win
My name is Melissa, and I am a first grade teacher. I love teaching and seeing how much growth is achieved in first grade. I am passionate about providing my students with the best possible education and resources. One of the ways I hope to achieve this is by adding more diverse books to our school library. Diversity in literature is so important because it allows students to see themselves reflected in the stories they read. It also exposes them to different perspectives and experiences, fostering empathy and understanding.
I am reaching out to you for your support. Every donation counts and will help us purchase books that will enrich the lives of our students and broaden their horizons. I believe that a well-stocked library is essential to the success of our students, and I hope that you will join me in this important endeavor!
