Peace One Day Education In America
In 1999, filmmaker Jeremy Gilley had an idea: create day of global cease-fire and nonviolence, and document his journey. As a result of his efforts, an annual Peace Day—on September 21—was unanimously adopted by member states of the United Nations in 2001. Peace Day has now been proved to save lives and inspire and empower young people everywhere to take action toward a more peaceful world.

Gilley's film, The Day After Peace, charting his extraordinary 10-year journey, can now be used in conjunction with the brand new FREE Peace One Day USA Education Resource. Visit www.peaceoneday.org to instantly view and download this tremendous resource for grades 6-12. And be sure to join Jeremy Gilley for a live webcast, here, on May 4, 2009, at 1 p.m. EST. This 40-minute event, held at the Scholastic Headquarters in New York, will help you find out more about the educational resource and show your students what young people can do to make peace at school, in their community, and in the world at large.
