You Already Recycle — Now It's Time to E-Cycle!
It seems like computers, cell phones, and other electronics are outdated almost by the time you get them out of the box! If you’re ready to upgrade any of your gear, don’t throw it in the garbage. Many electronic items contain elements that are toxic to the environment, so they need to be disposed of carefully. First, determine if someone might be able to use your (functioning) old item (a non-profit or religious organization, school, shelter, etc. might be happy to take it off your hands and put it to good use). If the item is no longer working, check your town’s policy on e-cycling. Many municipalities have drop-off locations. For more information, visit epa.gov or Earth911.com.
