A Writing Activity to Teach Synonyms

Synonyms are words that have similar meanings to other words. For example, the word "big" is similar to "large." They're synonyms. After introducing the concept, give your child a list of words and ask her to write a story that incorporates synonyms for the words you've provided. For example, your list might include the words "small," "good," "difficult," and "wonderful." In the story, your child might use words like "tiny," "great," "hard," and "tremendous."
