"Write" Your Own Fairy Tales

If your child loves the fanciful magic of fairy tales, encourage her to create her own. Put pictures and small objects in a bag or box as story prompts. As she pulls out one object or picture at a time, ask her to start a story. For example, if she pulls out a toy car, maybe she’ll say: “Once upon a time, a princess bought a new blue car.” Then she pulls out a postcard from a recent vacation and says: “The princess drove her car all the way to the Grand Canyon.” You get the idea!
