Write Acrostic Poems

Write your child's name vertically on a piece of paper. Then, explain that an acrostic poem is one in which each line is a word that describes the person and uses one letter from her name. For example, an acrostic poem for Eddie might be: Enthusiastic, Driven, Dependable, Imaginative, and Energetic. Then, let your child write an acrostic poem for your name, while you write one for hers.
