What Else Do You Want to Say?

When your child pipes up with a notion or an observation, encourage her to continue. Interject with utterances such as “and?” or “because?” or “then?” You’re not filling in the blanks; you’re prompting her to continue her idea with another phrase, sentence, or thought.
