Give your toddler a small bucket and have him follow you around the common areas of the house, instructing him to pick up and stow in his bag anything that belongs to him: stray blocks, a book, a doll, or puzzle pieces. Later, you can put those random items back in their proper place. The idea is to lay the foundation of the cooperative-cleanup habit.
