Use Your Words

If you try to keep your language limited to words you believe your toddler understands, he’ll end up hearing the same tightly focused group of words all the time. Use rare words. If you see a train go by, call it a locomotive, rather than a choo-choo. Use the words for the food you’re buying or preparing, like linguini rather than just plain pasta.
