Use Baking to Reinforce Math Skills

The next time you bake cookies with your child, make a point of talking with him about the measurements you're using. Ask questions like, "The recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. How many total teaspoons of spices are we using?" Or even, "The recipe makes 3 dozen cookies. How many cookies is that?"
