Understanding Your Child's Speech

Parents usually understand what a new or new-ish talker is saying more easily than someone else might. Observe, as your child talks, how often others understand his speech. That’ll give you a good idea of how clear his articulation actually is. Don’t worry if your child doesn’t have perfect diction, as many sounds won’t materialize until age four or later.
