Understanding Segmentation

Imagine listening to a completely foreign language; your first challenge is to figure out what portions of the sounds you hear stand for a discrete word. That’s your baby’s challenge with your native tongue. It’s called segmentation, and babies learn this partly by watching how people move their lips and mouths to produce sounds.
