Two, Please!

At around 18-24 months of age, your baby will likely have grasped the concept of one and two, at least in the sense of how they differ from “many.” He may be able to identify a pair of objects as “two.” You’ll be able to tell by requesting, as you see him reach for a plate of cookies, “Just one!” or (if you’re feeling generous) “Just two, please!”
