To Solve Your Story Problem, Draw a Picture
Kids get bogged down by the language and confused by all the numbers in a story problem. Instead of trying to figure it all out in their heads, kids should draw pictures, arrows, equations and symbols to represent the numbers. When they create the equations to solve, they won't forget this all-important fact and get the answer incorrect.
