Teaching Texture With Arty Scribbles

Your older baby might know what coloring with a crayon feels like on “normal,” flat paper. But try changing up the medium. Give your baby sheets of varying materials, like newspaper, corrugated cardboard, aluminum foil, or paper bags. Narrate for her, remarking how her crayon “bumps” over the corrugated cardboard, say, or slides on the foil or wax.
