Teach Your Child How to Use the Dictionary

Make sure your child is able to use traditional dictionary skills, such as looking up a word, finding its meaning, and learning how to pronounce it. Particularly as you read aloud together, pause to look up any words that are unfamiliar. This will allow you to introduce dictionary skills in the moment when they're most needed.
