Teach Estimating Skills

Ask your child to sort a pile of loose change into piles of pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. Work together to estimate how much the money is worth. Count the coins to determine their actual value. When you're done, take the activity a step further by asking your child to estimate what he can buy with that amount of money.
