Talk About Commercials With Your Child

As you watch commercials with your kids, encourage them to think about the advertisers' goals and what the ad is trying to convince them to believe. Do they want the viewers to do something? Think you need something? Try to compete with someone else? Also, who is the target market? Thinking about the intentions behind each ad will help your child think more critically about marketing. Discuss campaigns that are specifically directed at kids, too, and the different strategies advertisers use.
