Take Your Child on a Scavenger Hunt for Living Things

Start your scavenger hunt in your backyard or a park and bring a journal for taking notes. Tell your child that his job is to find living things — plants, animals, insects, even birds! Rather than collecting the evidence, have him record it in his journal. When you're done, talk about how the seasons affect the types of evidence available.
