Take a Sneak Peek of the Chapter Before You Read

Before he reads a chapter in a textbook, suggest these tips. Read the chapter headings, intro and conclusion. Those passages give snapshots of what's to come and what's been taught so he will get the big picture. Before starting the "real" reading, view the study questions at the end – he'll know what he will be responsible for understanding.
