A Sharp Point On the Mountain and a Flat Canyon
If your family watches reality singing shows, you're heard the terms flat and sharp. A sharp note is a note that is a half step higher on the musical scale. A "flat" note is a note that is a half step lower. To remember which is which, show your kid a picture of a mountain; the pinnacle is sharp and it's higher than the flat canyon below.
