Scents and Sensibility

Here’s a fun way to teach your child how her sense of smell works. Arrange dishes or bowls with various items on a tray, such as peanut butter, perfume, lemon juice, or whatever you think has a scent she can identify. Ask her to keep her eyes tightly shut or to wear a blindfold, and see if she can pick out the right items using just her sense of smell.
