Research the History of Your Child's Favorite Food

Over dinner, ask everyone in your family to share their favorite foods. How are they made, and where did they come from? Later, help your child conduct his own research about the food he chose. For example, if ice cream is your child's favorite, help him investigate where the concept for making ice cream originated and how it changed over time. Then, encourage him to share his findings with the family. As an extension activity, ask your child to adapt a recipe for his favorite food to make it his own!
