Repurpose Items Before You Throw Them Away

The term "repurposing" refers to using items for purposes other than what they were originally created to do. For example, when you paint an empty coffee can and use it hold pencils, you're repurposing it. When you use an egg carton to store jewelry, that's an example of repurposing. Talk with your kids about how to repurpose some of the items that typically get thrown away each week. Encourage them to come up with creative repurposing ideas of their own, too!
