Pattern Play

Get out as many different kinds of small cereal as you have around the house, and pour out a handful or so of each. Make a pattern on a tray (for example, two Cheerios, three corn flakes, five Chex, and repeat). Then ask your child to copy your pattern. When he’s done with that, mix it all up again and ask him to create his own pattern that you have to copy. This activity is a fun and easy way to help your child practice skills in focus and memorization.
