Narrate as You Cook

As you’re working in the kitchen, have your baby nearby in a back carrier or bouncy seat. Keep up a gentle flow of narration. “I’m heating up the milk now. It can get pretty hot!” or, “Here are the red peppers. I’m going to chop them up.” Name foods, colors, and aromas. Continue this activity, even when your child is old enough to participate.
