You may feel the urge to shower your child with rewards for completing hard tasks like cleaning up her toys. But keeping rewards non-material (a big hug, a hearty thank-you) or small (a sticker on a chart) will leave more room for internal motivation. That said, sticker charts can easily build up to a juicier reward, like a special outing after 10 stickers.
