Tweens can be hard on themselves when it comes to looking in the mirror. Do your best not to make comments – even complimentary – on their appearance. If you’d like to boost their self-esteem, consider giving them compliments in the area of their talents. Focus on subjects what they do well in school, what a good older sibling they are to a brother or sister, etc.
