Making Predictions

When your child is being read to, he’s hearing new and familiar words in context, which is a rich means of developing language. To encourage children to use their language skills, stop at certain points and ask, “What do you think will happen next?” They’ll have to rely on what they’ve understood so far, plus the illustrations, to make their predictions.
