Mail Box Sort

Try this great activity for letter or word recognition. You can set up a post-office-like sorting station with just a few simple steps. Get a cardboard box, and tape it shut. Then cut slits in the top (three or four) roomy enough to make slipping in envelopes easy. Gather a bunch of junk-mail envelopes, and write letters or words on them. Next, label the slots in the box with the corresponding letters. Then, let your child start sorting!
