Look for Explanations to Figure Out Tough Vocabulary
Explanation context clues use examples to help the reader clarify the difficult concept. For example: "Her exhilaration was no surprise because her uncle had given her a brand-new BMW and a puppy!" The tricky word, exhilaration, had an explanation in the sentence, so the reader could infer the meaning of the word: happiness.
