Locate the Author's Purpose By Following The Clues
Help your child find why an author wrote a passage by looking for clues. If an author is trying to persuade, the text will be filled with slanted words like should or must. Informative texts are free from emotional words and report without bias. An author whose purpose is to entertain will use flashy words to garner an emotional response!
