Kids Can Lend a Helping Hand in the House

Keeping your house clean and orderly may seem like an overwhelming task, given all the other things you need to get done. Six-year-olds are not too young to participate in helping out at home. Set the stage for good habits early by showing them how to make their beds (keep pillows to a minimum), pick up their toys, and bring their plates to the sink after meals. Some other possibilities: feeding the pets, putting away groceries, cleaning up spills, throwing their dirty clothes in the hamper and putting clean clothes away, and even running a vacuum. Note: When using any cleaning products, make sure they are safe for children (check www.ewg.org for a list of eco-friendly supplies that don’t contain potentially harmful chemicals).
