The I.D. Game

Repetition is the way to cement memory and to introduce your child to new vocabulary. Framing it as a question is also smart. So, as you’re out and about, ask lots of “wh-” questions. Point to a flower and say, “What is that? That is a flower!” “What do you see? You see a car.” As your baby gets past her first year, add in more identifying details, such as colors and sizes: a yellow flower, or a big, blue car.
