Hearing and Language in Infants

Infants listen to all sound frequencies simultaneously, but don’t pay attention all the time. This explains why your child will suddenly react to a sound you may not even have noticed, like a car backfiring out on the street. It may also help you understand how important it is, when your baby is “tuned in,” to limit background noise so she can focus in on you.
