Have Your Child Paint Her Spelling Words

Ask your child to think of an image to go along with each of her spelling words. For example, if the word is "challenging," she might come up with an image that shows someone navigating a challenging ropes course. Then, have her draw, paint, or color images for each word on her list and write the words – correctly spelled – beneath each one. To quiz her before the test, cover each word with a sticky note, and show her the image. Then, once she's spelled it correctly, remove the sticky note so that she can check her answer.
