Grab a Pencil (or Keyboard) and Get Writing!

Find a long-distance friend or family member who is interested. Encourage your emergent writer to use pencil and paper or email. Besides the benefits of practicing writing, children learn about other cultures (new language, anyone?), and get to know friends or family members who live far away. Don’t forget to occasionally include pictures, artwork, or other items.
