Franz Joseph Haydn: Witty Composer
Franz Joseph Haydn had a great sense of humor when he composed his symphonies and operas. His famous symphony, the "Farewell Symphony," was written as a witty way to tell his employer that the orchestra wanted to leave for vacation. The "Surprise Symphony" uses a fortissimo chord in the middle to make the ladies in the court jump in their seats.
