Floating-On-Air Experiment

Find some light items you can drop like feathers, an inflated balloon (one smaller, one bigger), and paper (one flat piece, one crumpled into a ball). Supervise your child as he drops each item, one at a time, from an elevated spot (such as a stair banister or coffee table). Before he releases the items, play a guessing game: Which will drop slower? Talk about how air, even though you can’t see it, can slow an item’s drop to the ground.
