Encourage Your Tween to Make a List of New Year's Resolutions

This New Year's Day, your tween is old enough to come up with New Year's resolutions on her own. Encourage your child to write a short list or share her resolutions and goals with you to provide accountability for achieving those goals. Try to serve as a springboard for your tween's goal and resolution ideas. Remember that not every goal has to revolve around school and reading, though you might want to suggest a goal such as "I will read X number of books outside of school this year." Great resolutions can also be about kindness, spending more family time at home, being more compassionate toward siblings, exercising more frequently, joining a new club at school — anything that will have your tween branching out and striving to be the best version of herself.
