Encourage Your Child's Effort

When you review your child's math homework, make at least one positive observation before pointing out any mistakes. "I really like the way you labeled each answer. The only thing I'd suggest is double-checking your math here." Re-doing the calculation without knowing what the answer should be will allow her to learn more from the experience.
