Encourage Your Child to Ask "Why" Questions

It's important for kids to put what they're learning into context. This helps them to value the learning process and retain new information. But the question "why?" seems to get a bad rap. Let your child know that it's okay to ask why she needs to know something, and role play how to question what she's learning in a way that does not seem rude or belligerent. Having the freedom to ask questions will help her invest more fully in what she's learning.
