Does "buh" mean bottle? Not always!

Be careful you’re not assigning meaning to your baby’s early utterances that she didn’t necessarily intend. Let’s say your baby is holding her spoon and saying “buh, buh, buh.” If you’re not looking at her, you might mistakenly respond with “Bottle? You want your bottle?” That’s what’s called “crisscrossing”: inadvertently, you’re teaching her that a spoon is a bottle!
