Is That a Cylinder or a Cup?

If your child likes pretend play, she’s also working out basic mathematical and scientific concepts. If she picks up a cylindrical block and begins using it as a cup in a pretend tea party, she’s noticing that the geometry of a cup and her block are similar. She’s comparing and contrasting, solving problems, and making decisions, all concepts used in math and science.
