Creating A Character Sketch From a Magazine

Gather a couple of magazines and tear out pages with unknown people on them. Instruct your child to choose a person to write about and ask him these questions: "What does this person think about? What are this person's strengths? Weaknesses? What do people think about your character?" Now he has a great start to a character-driven story.
