Create After School Routines

Make a list of the things your kids need to do when they get home from school – in addition to the things they can do after they've completed their chores. For example, you might expect them to put their backpacks, shoes, and coats away and clean out their lunch boxes. After this, you might want them to get a snack and clean up after themselves. Consider establishing a set time by which they need to start their homework, too. It's okay to allow them some down time after school if they need it, but make sure they have a firm plan in place for completing their assignments, too.
