Collect and Classify Rocks

Go for a walk with your child and collect some interesting rocks. When you get home, have your child describe each rock in his journal. Encourage him to research rocks and pay attention to the types of rocks that are typically found in your area. Over time, help your child add new rocks to the collection and classify them based on what he's learned.
