Can You Follow My Directions?

Receptive language (understanding what’s said) can lag behind expressive language (actually talking). To help, play a “follow the directions” game. If your child asks for a piece of fruit, say: “I’ll help you, but first you have to show me where the refrigerator is.” Start with one or two things and see if she understands your requests.
