C-A-T for Cat: Word Cards

Create your own word-recognition matching game once your child can identify her letters. On one set of index cards, write simple words like "cat," "dog," "bird," "bed," and "cake." Next, find pictures from magazines that match the words. Glue these to a corresponding set of cards. Shuffle them, lay them out, and play a match-the-word-with-the-picture game with your child.
