"Bud, Not Buddy" by Christopher Paul Curtis

Fans of historical fiction and humorous writing alike will absolutely love this charming, award-winning novel by Christopher Paul Curtis. Curtis, who is the Newberry Medal-winning author of The Watsons Go to Birmingham – 1963 and Elijah of Buxton, masterfully paints a portrait of life in 1936 Flint, Michigan. Ten-year-old Bud is a resilient, clever boy on a mission: to find his father, a man he knows little about save some clues his recently deceased mother left behind. Bud, Not Buddy is the recipient of the 2000 Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award.
